Training workshops and presentations offer an opportunity to learn about the often misunderstood issue of self-harm. Jill offers a safe environment to explore an issue that often triggers fear and helplessness in those faced with supporting someone who self-harms. Jill brings to the training her own personal experience of using self-harm to cope with the memories of being sexually abused as a child. Jill offers part of her "story" to help you understand the individual meaning and purpose of her own self-harm and describes the journey that led to her breaking free from the need to self-harm, describing the factors that were helpful to her in beginning to reduce and stop her need to self-harm.
'As a professional counsellor since then Jill developed Self-Injury Support in North Cumbria (SIS) into a unique independent service in North Cumbria that was valued for its expertise and person-centred ethos, until she left the charity in 2007. . Jill now offers these workshops independently and will offer professional understanding and insights from her former work with the charity (SIS) to further your knowledge around self-harm. In particular NICE guidelines, case studies and examples of care management around harm minimisation can be included'
